MAKE MOTHER CRY NO MORE

Come with me let's go to the south and speak
Let's talk to them about the fallen tears on mothers cheek
The oracle has spoken to me in a language unknown
Language i would declaim to the ears of men alone
That no woman should be made to cry

Come let us move to the east and settle the mire
Let's quench this madness that has spread like wild fire
Mother's tears need not to be fetched
Like an open stream with her bounds stretched
Cos her tears are carved from moon stones

Has the royal drum been sounded in the west
Has the Oni sent out his royal guard to make arrest
Of frail men
Who refuse to leave mothers tears unfallen
Cos her tears brings wrath from the gods

Where men drink her tears joyfully
Where those herdsmen broke mothers tears freely
Lush canopies fall to carpet and the flora wintry home
Mothers tears withers woodlands on fertile loam
Cos Nature never betrays her own

Brethren; we could see she quakes in her fears
Mother is restless with each drop of her tears
Her tears adorns the naked moon
We are no saint; we've faded the moon
cos we poured mothers tears like fools

I may not be good enough for mother
I may have been so foolish like my every other brother
I may have been the black sheep in white dressing
I may have been the son without her blessing
But i'm the only one with a pregnant pen

So when she comes,
Ring my bell of words to her eardrums
Don't get her deaf with this message
Tell her not to worry about me or my luggage
I have embark on this journey
To tell frail men never to search for her tears; it's not honey
Cos her tears is as precious as diamond

AJIKE

You are not ENIBIOKANMI but ENIOKANMI
Ajike I breath you in and out
As you've become my air
Many are the maidens around
But It's you who have become my heartbeat
The FUJI music my soul dance to
There are so many birds in the sky
But you are the OKIN; the most beautiful of them all
I was at oja IDARA when I first saw you
When your beauty caught my eyes
Your smile that day AJIKE
Robbed me of my sanity armour
I fell so deep in love with you
That I found you wandering the garden of my heart
When I saw you at ODO-ADO the other day
And saw how she wet your pretty face
I thought you were YEYE herself
In the rain yesterday I saw the rain drops
As they ran from your SHUKU
Down from your bosom to your gorgeous feet
And I saw how the earth adores each water drop
That drips from your beautiful attire
There is something special about you AJIKE
That ignite this flame of love inside of me
Could it be your smile?
Cos it sweetness beaconed on me
Could it be your endowment?
That which could not be hidden in a wrapper
Could it be your presence?
That makes the sky barren
And the wind lame in your absence
I think you are among the ORISA
That escorted OLODUMARE to IKOLE AIYE
No wonder your body likens that of a goddess
Far more gorgeous than YEYE OSUN
AJIKE I've drank the love potion in your eyes
I must be filled to the brim
No herb can cure me of this sickness
The ALAWO tried and yet failed
Your love has imprisoned me
I don't want to be set free
So when you see me AJIKE
When next we cross path
Know that this poet has fallen for you
From the tallest IROKO to the deepest river.
Stan has fallen for you.

LETTER TO 'Ajike' THE MAIDEN

Many are the stars in the sky
You my love out shines them all.
Ajike, it's you that paints my heart's garden
It's your smile that gives life to it flowers.
Love flew on the wings of time
And it finds us at the rocky grounds of Ado-Ekiti.
Adunni, it was your beauty that blew my heart
Your smile ajike takes away my ability to speak.
There's something about you ajike
Something special about you omo asake.
Not too delicate for a queen
Yet not too daring for a princess.
Your legs abeni moves with elegance and grace
The earth adores it when you walk.
Idunnu mi,My eyes finds joy in your smile
Just as I found love in your eyes.
Awelewa, it's your beauty that amazes me the most
When I saw you, I thought you were Yeye's first daughter.
Your feet ajike
They're not too tender to dance the bata dance
Not too firm to kneel to blend pepper with the olo ata .
I want to have a life with you idunnu mi
Come to my home ajike; be my bride
Olomi, Come and teach my pots how to make good soup.
Let me taste our love
From those morsels of affection you will make.
Come and make my home and teach our daughters how to make efo riro
Come lets build a family And teach our sons how to greet like we were taught.
Ayunfe, let us ride on the wings of our heritage
And showcase the beauty of our culture.
I might be from the east
But I want to take a walk with you to the feet of Olosunta
So we could listen to the earth therein.
I would love to see the beauty of Oduduwa’s staff
With you of course, when we go visiting the ooni of great Ife.
I would take a tour with you to the Alaafin‘s palace
And say hello to the emperor of the oyo empire.
And when we are done
We would step onto the rocky Ado-Ekiti.
The very origin of our love story
And listen to ewi’s ewi at Udiroko.
And when we're tired ajike
And my eyes too weak to see your wrinkled face.
It will still be you and I on our dying bed
Holding hands; waiting for the transit call.
Into the imperiality of Olodumare's kingdom
Where our love will never see the end line of time.
